I'll start this out with a rant. They are going to re-make "The Day the Earth Stood Still" originally done in 1951 with Michael Rennie and Patricia Neal, now with Keanu Reevs and Jennifer Conneley. Bah! Might as well colorize Citizen Kane! This should offened all Si-FI FANS (AND YOU know WHO YOU ARE). The original is still one of the best movies ever in this catagory.

That being said, here's my choices:

1. Blade Runner...One of the BEST adaptions of a Phillip K. Dick novel.

2. Alien (The first one). Yes, the other ones are good, but nothing beats a "first watching" of the original for great Sci-Fi/Horror.

3. Solaris (The 1972 Russian version)

Bruce, I have to agree with all 3 of your choices,,,

I would add, 2001 a space odessey,, IF one reads the book first (is a better movie to watch that way)
