Wildlife Community Network
NWHS ally, Chobe Wildlife Rescue (Dr Clay Wilson) had a very big week this week.
Not only did he donate 10 Garmin handheld GPS units to the Chobe National Park, Wildlife and Parks officers, he also conducted a mass vaccination of local dogs for Canine Distemper Virus and other potential diseases (6 in one shots). This effort was a follow-up of the mass vaccination reported in March. The majority of vaccine drugs were purchased with a grant from Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund, via National Wildlife Humane Society. The following is a presentation we at NWHS put together today for CWR. Enjoy :) (cool music too)
(Oh, on top of that,, Dr Clay entertained Jack Hannah who filmed Dr Clay's work, and local Botswana wildlife, for his TV show to be aired next year). All in one week's work!
good to read the positive ! thanks Patrick
A lot of work this week, for my buddy Clay, but it's good for him, LOL.. (Good for wildlife too)
Glad you enjoyed the video and photos.
So cool about the GPS units being donated. I read about Canine Distemper before, and how lions had it, and got it from dogs. Glad the dogs are getting vaccinated again to make sure the distemper won't spread. Yeah for Dr. Clay Wilson, Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund, Chobe Wildlife Rescue, and National Wildlife Humane Society. Can hardly wait to see the TV show next year with Dr. Clay. Really love the video and pics. Thanks Catman.
Thanks for taking the time to view the wildlife work being done Ruth and Pauline.
Just because Chobe and/or NWHS are not the "Big Guys", who have millions of dollars at their disposal, does not mean us little orgs can't be effective. On the contrary, small orgs such as ours, get far more accomplished on a per donated dollar, than the large orgs do. It's a shame that the general public doesn't recognize this, and support the small hard working nonprofits more.
That being said, the Disney WCF is a huge help to us small nonprofits, because they indeed see the value of our work.
Every dollar counts, and grows more to help the small org. Great about Disney WCF helping so much. We can all do our part in saving wildlife. Thanks Catman.
Almost all of Clay's work has been "self funded" in Botswana. He has utilized his life's savings to assist wildlife. Few people would give up so much for a cause. He is a very dedicated human.
Dr Clay Wilson is a very special person ,, wish there were more people like him
