Upcoming Touch The Jungle Ecuador Tours for 2010

  • Rating: 5 after 1 vote
Join us for an authentic Ecuador rain forest experience with the native people whose ancestors have lived on this land for more than 400 years, miles from "civilization" and modern conveniences, yet still having comfortable accommodations. Starting off with a day tour of Quito and a visit to the Equator, you'll travel on to the cloud forests of Mindo, famous for countless butterflies and hummingbirds. Then onto the highlight of the tour, to the community owned and operated Eco-project in the El Choco region of NW Ecuador, the Playa de Oro Reserva de Tigrillos. You'll also visit the highland town of Otavalo and experience the largest artesian market in all of South America before traveling on to the northern highland cloud forest area of the Intag Valley. At Intag, you will experience the cloud forest by horseback, visit thermal hot springs, and local coffee farms before returning to Quito to prepare for your departure home. Intag is also the new home of the Touch The Jungle wildlife rescue and rehab center, starting facility construction in early 2010.

There is something for everyone on these tours including adventures ziplining in cloud forest, beautiful & unusual scenery to enjoy, horse back riding in the Andean Mountains, hiking in pristine rain forests, relaxing in natural hot springs, hammock naps during rain showers in the rain forest, delicious native cuisine, several different cultures to experience, wildlife to appreciate, opportunities to learn about organic farming, shopping for hand made crafts, even a visit to the actual equator! You get to experience all of those things and more while supporting local communities and habitat/wildlife conservation!

Tour fee is a very reasonable $850 per person excluding airfare for this 14 day adventure! Please visit our website for more details and itinerary of the tours at

I can't wait for March !!! It will be a great trip, a good break from the winter in Canada, we are snowed in right now. If anyone has any concerns about the difficulty of the trip, don't worry. My last group was 8 people between 65 and 76. They all managed to do everything on the list, a few had their own helper in the jungle, which I'm not sure they needed, but liked to watch the muscles and the smiles on those young men. They said life was too short to miss out on anything. These people said it was the best trip they had ever been on, and they have done Safari's in Africa, gone to Australia and New zealand, Indonesia and Europe. Actually interacting with the native people and being in one place long enough to make a relationship with the people was a highlight for them. The food is awesome, if you are a vegetarian that isn't a problem. The scenery is like nothing you have seen. You can go from the top of the Andean Mountains to the rainforest of Esmeraldas in hours. This is a life changing experience and life is too short to miss out on any part of it.
Do you have some photos of your last tour to share with us, Grace?
Thought you would never ask !!! I have 3000 of them. If anyone would like a dvd of the highlights of the last trip they are aIvailable for a $7. donation to the Wildlife Reserve. But I am going to attempt to upload some pictures for you to see now.

The first picture is a leisurely walk in the jungle. the next is an shot of us tubing, and then one of horseback riding, had to stop for a lunch break !!

Looks like three is the limit so I will have to send another message.

More pictures. The first one is on the Rio Santiago on the way to the PDO. The next is me sharing pictures with the children. When I take pictures on a trip, the next time I bring copies for the children. The last is the group of ladies in the hot tubs, we did it every night while we were in Intag. Nothing like going horseback riding and then into the hot tub. are you guys ready to yet ??

Here is the picture of sharing the pictures with the children, and the dance troop from the Village and panning for gold in the Rio Santiago
Wow, march would be a good time to go, it's usually really crappy weather here. It would be nice to get away from it for a couple weeks.

If you like, I will create an NWHS Newspage story from this, and add it to next weeks Newsletter. Need to know if it's ok to include the email, and if Grace doesn't care, maybe a photo of hers. Might drum up some interest.
Made this post an NWHS website News story
