This site now hosted on a Ning network, started out as facebook forum which disseminated zoo & conservation news to professionals and volunteers working at zoos, rehab facilities, & sanctuaries. We needed a site to serve as a user friendly directory.See More
I'm a wildlife biologist/herpetologist. Since 2000, I have worked on various herpetological research projects around the Black Hills and South Dakota, but also in North Dakota, Wyoming, Nebraska, New Mexico, Arizona and the Caribbean nation of Antigua. Most recently, I conducted a herp inventory and habitat assessment for Devils Tower National Monument.
In addition, for five years I also volunteered over 5,200 hours at a wildlife sanctuary as the staff wildlife biologist. I feel lucky that I was able to work hands-on with 11 different species of exotic cats like lions, leopards, liger and tigers (as well as many other exotics and domestics). Not only was it an amazing experience, but also I learned how much I love big cats! :)
I’m currently in grad school for my masters in biology (my thesis is based on garter snakes) and I’m still getting used to the student routine again… LoL. I’m also looking forward to working on more research projects this year, as well.
I also LOVE being outdoors: hiking, camping, fishing, looking under rocks and logs for creepy crawlies...
I love to travel (more like addicted - LoL!) and have visited Europe, South America, the Caribbean and Africa.
