It has always surprised me how similar and non-similar the big cats are. Here are a few tips for others:

Panthers are not really Panthers, they are either a Cougar, Jaguar or Leopard. Panthera (Feline Genus) contains Lions, Tigers, Leopards and Jaguars. The Panther is actually a mythical and legendary creature. Only Tigers and Jaguars like water, while lions act like house cats not wanting their paws wet. Leopards are nocturnal and sleep most of the day, and they can carry three times their weight up a tree. Leopards are also the only big cat that cleans it prey before eating it. They are also pound-for-pound the most capable killer in all of Africa. Leopards will also take on a whole pack of Baboons, while a Cheetah will run from just one of them. Cheetahs also let their pups eat before gorging themselves, as there is little time to feed before predators arrive. Leopards and Tigers are mostly in Asia, while Cheetahs, Leopards, and Lions are mostly in Africa. The Florida Panther (actually a Cougar/Puma subspecies) is nearly extinct. Tigers are labeled White, Bengal and Golden in color. While Lions are still probably the King of the Jungle, they are not the biggest cats. A full grown tiger can weight nearly 700 pounds, compared to a mature male lion which weights around 500 pounds. Cheetahs are around 100 pounds full-grown, while a full-grown leopard gets around 200 pounds..

You're very welcome. I'm no Catman -- 'cause he actually works with these animals -- but I'm just a guy who watches anything and every thing about big cats on the boob tube. I adore tigers and leopards the most.
