TERRI and Bindi Irwin will feature in an educational DVD to be released in the lead up to the Day for Daniel Morcombe to be held on October 30.

The Day for Daniel, now in its sixth year, aims to raise awareness of child safety and is dedicated to the memory of 13-year-old Daniel Morcombe, who vanished from the Sunshine Coast in December 2003.

It is believed he was abducted and murdered.

The three-minute film, produced by the Australian Federal Police, includes interviews with AFP Commissioner Tony Negus and Bruce and Denise Morcombe, as well as the Irwins.

Ms Irwin told the Sunshine Coast Daily she was happy to put her weight behind the Day for Daniel and the Daniel Morcombe Foundation, which Australia Zoo has supported since 2006.

“Wear red to show your support and purchase a wristband to help the Daniel Morcombe Foundation," Ms Irwin said.

"When you’re putting your money towards this wonderful organisation, you’re helping to keep kids safe and smart about their surrounds right through the country.

“That’s what we want to do. We want kids to get better at this and to avoid dangerous situations because every child deserves to be safe and comfortable.”

Special Day for Daniel celebrations will be held at Australia Zoo.

Bruce Morcombe said the day was a call for action and education.

“From the outset, our aim was to build the Day for Daniel into a national event of significance raising awareness surrounding child safety issues,” Bruce said.

“Every year, it’s growing in momentum and the launch of the DVD will help us raise even more awareness.”
